NW Electric, Inc. has been operating a licensed and bonded electrical shop since June 2001. Originally operating under the name NW Refrigeration & Electric, Denny McConnell was the Sole Proprietor. In 2006, the business incorporated to now become what is known as NW Electric, Inc., which specializes in residential and commercial construction in the Northwest Arctic Borough.

NW Electric, Inc. is an Alaskan native owned and operated business. The President of NW Electric, Inc. is a NANA and KIC shareholder. The company prides themselves on their continuous promotion of local shareholder hire. For the last several years the company has employed approximately 10-12 core employees year round. In 2015 NW Electric, Inc. earned the distinct honor of being awarded Small Business of the Year by the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Committee. Most recently Denny McConnell won NANA’s 2019 Small Business of the Year award.
